Inspired By California
I recently co-hosted a styled photoshoot weekend in Yucca Valley for a group of traveling family and wedding photographers. Our weekend was carefully planned with three separate photoshoots inspired by the California landscape and lifestyle. For this weekend, it was important to be able to find people that actively lived and reflected that California lifestyle. After weeks of searching for potential candidates online, I found a beautiful, young family that seemed perfect for our planned family photoshoot.
Styling And Aesthetic
Allowing our models to show off their own personal style was an important element to help their family photos feel authentic. Our model brought her own vintage clothing pieces from her personal collection that she carefully curated for our story. As far as the location, we rented a gorgeous AirBNB located in Yucca Valley, CA that I highly recommend for your next visit to Joshua Tree. It also happens to be a short drive away from historic Pioneertown.
We had so much fun with this young family! Their baby was adorable and they all really opened up to us during our time together. Achieving easy moments like this requires a good level of trust towards your photographer. By having the willingness to display this kind of love in front of the camera, it allows us as family photographers to be present in the moment with you. Being playful and focusing on each other really helps to capture authentic photos that feel like you.
I am always looking for a reason to travel to California. It’s a special place that will forever have my heart due to it being so familiar to me as my own personal home state.
