Living in the Pacific Northwest gives us so many options when it comes to family photos because of the variety in landscapes. With a camera always by my side, I’ve had the privilege of taking families to adventurous locations, exploring breathtaking views, and documenting heartwarming family connections. Let’s go explore one of my favorite spots for family photos at Rosario Beach.
This adventurous family was visiting from Arizona and wanted to document their time spent in Seattle. They requested a location that felt very Pacific Northwest, like a forest combined with a beach. I immediately thought of Rosario Beach located near Deception Pass in Anacortes, WA because of its ability to offer both of her requests. A scenic beach park perfect for even the smallest explorers, it is unique for the forest trees and beach lined views. There are two separate beaches here separated by a picnic area, tide pools, and expansive water views.
The views here are gorgeous
I love taking photos for family at Rosario Beach because of the gorgeous sunsets and vivid blue water views. Every family that I have taken to this location ends up wanting to linger a little while longer to take in the memorable scenery. Walk down to the main beach to catch the sun set before it disappears behind the mountains.
Travel time to Rosario Beach
If you’re coming from Seattle, you will spend about two hours driving to Rosario Beach. The scenic drive includes multiple stops along the way which is perfect when driving with kids. As with most scenic parks in Washington, Rosario requires a Discover Pass or a park donation. If you’re a Seattle resident and enjoy exploring, I highly recommend purchasing a pass to help keep our Washington parks beautiful.
I hope that my photographs from this family session inspires you to embark on your own adventures. I’m a big believer that life is best lived outside because it brings you to places like this.
