A babymoon trip that ended with maternity photos at one of my favorite spots in Laguna Beach. As a Laguna Beach maternity photographer, Shaw’s Cove is a location I return to again and again for one specific reason. That reason is the way golden hour light filters through the row of palm trees against that cliff backdrop. There’s nothing else like it in Orange County.
This particular evening had some extra magic. Spring nights at the beach tend to bring wind, and this one delivered dramatic clouds with just enough pink to feel cinematic. Minutes before my clients arrived, it started sprinkling softly through the sunshine. Then a double rainbow appeared. I was scrambling to capture it before it disappeared when they walked up looking completely relaxed. They were in the most perfect outfits for the evening.
That’s the kind of session where you just feel lucky to be there with a camera.
They had flown in from out of town for their babymoon, and I’m so glad they found me and felt a connection to my style. These are exactly the kinds of images I want people to carry with them into this next chapter.
On the walk back up from the beach, we paused among the coastal garden path above the cove. The lush greenery and fading light made for one last quiet moment. It was a completely different mood from the open sky and sand, but just as good.
Booking a Maternity Session in Laguna Beach
Shaw’s Cove is just one of several stunning locations along the Laguna Beach coastline that I love for maternity sessions. The combination of cliffs, palm trees, and that Southern California golden hour light makes it hard to beat. If you’re local to Orange County or planning a babymoon trip to the area, this is the kind of session you’ll want on your wall. My summer schedule is now open. If you’re visiting and want to bring home something real from your trip, you can book directly online. Otherwise, you can send me an inquiry to start planning.
