Autumn in Seattle is the perfect backdrop for cozy fall family photos. If you’ve been dreaming of warm tones and colorful leaves, timing is key! Here are a few quick tips to help you plan ahead for your fall family photos.
Aim for Mid to Late October
In Seattle, October is when the colors are at their peak. By mid-October, the leaves have usually turned, and the weather is still nice enough for an outdoor photoshoot. Schedule your fall family photos during this window to catch the season at its peak. Anything later than October and the cold Puget sound wind and rain will begin to make it’s presence.
Book Early to Secure Your Spot
Photographers’ schedules fill up fast in the fall, so book early! Ideally, try to secure your spot by late summer or early September for the best booking times. Booking ahead gives you a better chance of finding a time that suits your family’s schedule. It also ensures you’ll get that golden autumn backdrop for your fall family photos.
Consider Weekday Sessions
If your schedule is flexible, weekday sessions can be a hidden gem. These session times are widely available on my schedule, plus popular outdoor spots such as Seward Park are usually less crowded. This means a more relaxed vibe (my favorite) and you won’t have to compete with crowds for your fall family photos.
Plan Around Seattle Weather
Seattle’s fall can bring sudden rain, so rest assured that I will keep a watchful eye on the forecast at least 48 hours prior as your session approaches. If you’re prepared with warm layers, you can embrace Seattle’s charm while I capture playful, cozy moments.
Booking your fall family photos early before the rainy weather begins to set in will save you lots of stress and will allow you to order your holiday cards early. So plan your outfits ahead of time (no seriously), block out some time on your family schedule, and get ready to capture your family’s favorite fall memories!
