Catch a quick ferry ride to Whidbey Island from Seattle and you have the opportunity to visit some of the most scenic areas of Washington. I discovered Ebey’s Landing after visiting with my own family when we were looking for a spot to distance from people during COVID lockdown. After spending some time on the island, we stumbled on this wonderful location and I immediately decided I had to create couples photos here in the future.
The Scenes Of Ebey’s Landing
Ebey’s Landing is located about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Seattle and a very scenic and short ferry ride. Take the ferry and enjoy the views, but you can easily also choose to take your time and do the drive. You’ll end up passing a few beautiful spots to stop and visit along the way including some eateries in nearby Coupeville, WA.
A Golden Hour Couples Session
On this day, we chose to take the ferry since we managed to catch it in time with plenty of extra time left over to grab a quick bite and gas up on the island. I met my couple about 15 minutes before we began taking photos to go over their vision and quickly discuss a few planned photos. Ebey’s Landing is really unique to me because of it’s viewpoints. You arrive at a small parking lot and then walk up a short wooden staircase up to a beautiful open meadow area. Sweet meadow flowers pop up here in the Springtime well into early Summer. We had a few left over for our session day with my couple.
The meadow area is basically a long 5.6 mile hike that will take you through private farmland and behind private property. We walked up as far as we could to grab some beautiful views and take in all the scenery. There are gorgeous scenic sunset views from the top with the meadow area giving plenty of space to run and walk. However, missing out on the sun peeking from behind the hills of Ebey’s Landing is not to be missed. We timed our session to end just after sundown to capture some filmy images that perfectly set the mood for this beautiful couple.
You can see how amazing this spot is for a dramatic backdrop. It’s great for couples, engagement photos, family, and memorable surprise proposals. The blue waters below are stunning and provide a memorable view to enjoy a sunset or to simply gaze at the stars – I promise you won’t forget it!
