In Seattle, WA, there are various minimal, cozy, styled, modern, and industrial studios I recommend for family photos. Your choice depends on your style and how you want your photos to look. While some may think of studio portraits as outdated, they still hold an important place in photography. There is something special about the simplicity of a family studio portrait, focusing on the subject and their personalities—especially the kids! Moreover, during the colder spring and winter months, a studio session is perfect for family and newborn photos.
The light is consistent
One benefit of studio portrait sessions is the control we have over the environment. Since we are indoors, we control lighting, background, and props. Consequently, every detail is carefully planned to ensure your family photos match your style. With a simple background and minimal props, the focus remains on the subject, their personality, and emotions.
The use of props
For this studio family session, we used a portable staircase and disco balls provided by the studio owners. Personally, I prefer all-white studios because they don’t reflect light back onto the subject like dark wood floors do. White floors act as natural reflectors, flattering all skin tones. This family wore neutral, lighter-colored clothing to avoid strong contrast against the white background. Choose your occasion
Another advantage of studio photos is their versatility. Whether you need a professional headshot, family portrait, or senior picture, a studio portrait can be tailored to your needs. They can be used for marketing materials, personal keepsakes, or gifts. This studio is located near Seattle, WA and spacious enough for kids and their family to run, jump, and play. Can you tell that these kids were having the best time?
Reserve Your Spot Early
Scheduling a studio session is easy. It all starts with an inquiry:
- Tell me how much time you want to spend. I highly recommend an hour for a family photo session, especially for younger kids who may need more time to warm up.
- Tell me your style: romantic or modern? This helps me recommend the right studio for your session. I will then send you rental fee options based on your chosen studio (some have multiple rooms).
- Once you decide on a studio, I will send you an invoice to hold your date and time. Then, I’ll help you plan outfits and may even send a mood board based on your family’s personality. We can incorporate activities to keep the kids happy and engaged. This particular family chose to play with their kids, creating loving, sweet moments with their babies.
