How To Prep for Family Photos

Client Prep

Let’s keep it simple. Here are some quick tips on how to prep for family photos with your kids so the session stays fun and relaxed:

FOOD: Happy kids make for easygoing sessions! A quick, mess-free snack keeps everyone happy and gives us extra time to finish your session. Try gummy bears—they’re fun and easy to grab when kids need a boost. Keeping everyone fed is one of the easiest ways to prep for family photos without stress.

OUTFITS: Stressing over outfits? Don’t! Let’s do a quick FaceTime, and I’ll help you pull something together. I work closely with clients to create looks that feel natural and true to their style. That’s why everyone in my photos looks like themselves. Whether you prefer a casual, colorful vibe or a more neutral, classic feel, I’ll make sure it all comes together. Coordinating outfits is a big part of how to prep for family photos, and I make it stress-free.

WHAT TO SAY TO KIDS: You know your kids best, but most just want to know this will be fun—and that their favorite people will be right there if they need a little comfort. That being said, a lot of kids do just fine once we get them outside. Fresh air, after all, puts everyone in a good mood. Ultimately, keeping things light and playful is the best way to prep for family photos and ensure everyone enjoys the experience.
