Is there anything more beautiful than a gorgeous mountain tree-lined backdrop reflected into a pond? One of my favorite spots to photograph almost any type of session is located near the Snoqualmie Pass about one hour outside of Seattle, WA. Gold Creek Pond is gorgeous all year ’round, but I find it especially beautiful in the Fall just before the snow starts to come in and the whole area is covered in a thick blanket of fluffy white. It’s a great spot for a family session, a couples engagement session, a surprise proposal, and even for an elopement or an intimate wedding – although I would only recommend a wedding at this location during the week to avoid crowds and create a more intimate atmosphere.
This family session was photographed just before it began to snow, so it was really special to be here and see the views of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. This location is one of those spots that is very colorful even in the Fall when wildflowers are not present. It’s important to keep in mind that keeping your outfit choices simple are key to creating beautiful family photos. I worked closely with my client to have her tone down her outfit choices so that her girls were complimenting and accenting her brown neutral top mixed with her patterned skirt. The girls had fun running around the pond in their adorable skirts that added lots of movement to their photos. They genuinely had fun and it shows in their family gallery.
