Travel adventure sessions with clients are some of my favorite moments to capture. It’s really about the the destination and experiencing the natural beauty at your chosen location. This Winter, I was able to visit Honolulu, Oahu, and Kailua Beach. We love the diversity of scenery here!
As a new family of three, my clients were eager to create lasting memories with their precious newborn baby. We knew we wanted to capture the beauty of Hawaii’s natural landscapes, but also wanted to find a secluded spot where we could have some privacy to enjoy the moment. With the guidance of my client who is familiar with the island of Oahu and Honolulu – we discovered a hidden gem – a secluded beach cove that seemed to be untouched by the outside world. With camera and sunscreen in hand, we set out on a family adventure beach session that we won’t soon forget.
After researching this beach cove spot online, I ventured out for a quick location scout to check the position of the sun. This helps to decide how we can decide on optimal lighting and timing for this family session. I always want to make sure that I’m photographing in the most flattering light. This particular beach has a variety in height that includes tall cliff rocks, windy surf, and even caves to explore and duck away from the bright sun. It all perfectly compliments the serene beauty of the cove. It seemed like the perfect setting to help keep a newborn baby happy and calm. Capturing these family memories in Hawaii was such a rewarding experience for me. The colors, the sounds, and the chill atmosphere was a core memory that I can’t wait to experience again. I learned that this location is also famous for a classic beach scene from an Oscar winning movie – this definitely means that I need to come back to try and recreate those vibes; calling all couples in love seeking cinematic moments!
This newborn family adventure session in Oahu, Hawaii was a soulful experience that I will always treasure. It was a reminder to slow down, appreciate the natural beauty around us, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
